A seam is sewn first and then an overcast stitch is performed on the very edge of the fabric to prevent the fabric from fraying. The first model in our range to have an overcasting stitch is the Innov-is 15, all the models up from this one have at least one type of overcasting stitch, some have more but they all come with an overcasting presser foot.
