General

These Terms and Conditions apply to all transactions between you and The Sewing Studio Ltd. Please read them carefully. They do not affect your statutory rights. We may change these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will take effect on the date they are posted on our website.

These Terms and Conditions are governed by English law and are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. We do not accept amendments to these Terms and Conditions. Failure by us to enforce any of these Terms and Conditions will not affect our right to enforce the rest of these terms and conditions.

Customer Orders

We will treat each order for goods as an offer by you to purchase the goods subject to these terms and conditions.

To order goods over the telephone or on our website, you must be at least 18 years of age and accept delivery within the UK. All telephone orders will be acknowledged verbally at the time of order, and all orders placed on our website will be acknowledged electronically by e-mail. Please note that verbal and/or electronic acknowledgements do not constitute order confirmation or order acceptance. Your order will be accepted and the creation of a legally binding contract between you and us will take place once the goods have been dispatched or collected. (Alternatively, we may decline all or part of your order for any reason, in which case we will inform you in-person or by telephone or e-mail).

When deciding whether or not to accept your order we may use certain information about you, including any received from credit reference agency checks. This helps to protect you and us against fraudulent transactions.

We will tell you if your payment details cannot be authorised for any reason and may invite you to pay by another method. 

Prices

The total price payable will be stipulated at the time when you place your order whether or not the order has been acknowledged. We are entitled to make adjustments to the price to take account of any increase in our suppliers' prices, or the imposition of any taxes or duties, or if due to an error or omission the price published for the goods is wrong whether or not the order has been acknowledged. We will inform you of the correct price and give you the opportunity to cancel the order. Prices in GBP are inclusive of VAT, all other currencies are exclusive of VAT, taxes and duties, these will be calculated at the checkout. All prices are exclusive of delivery charges which will be payable as indicated at the time the order is placed.

From time to time the prices displayed on our website may be different if you are directed to it from a third party website. Purchases at these prices can only be made on our website and by arriving on it through a relevant third party website; these prices will not be available in-store or over the telephone.

Prices, offers and products are subject to availability and may change before (but not after) we accept your order. If a product becomes unavailable we may offer you an alternative. 

On occasion, the prices payable and promotions offered in respect of goods advertised on the website may differ from those prices and promotions offered at the same time in-store. We are under no obligation to honour any in-store price or promotion in the event that they differ from those on the website. Similarly, our store is under no obligation to honour any website price or promotion in the event that they differ from those in-store.

Although we endeavour to ensure that all pricing information on the website is accurate, occasionally an error may occur and goods may be mispriced. If we discover a pricing error we will, at our discretion, either: contact you and ask you whether you wish to cancel your order or continue with the order at the correct price; or notify you that we have cancelled your order. We will not be obliged to supply goods at the incorrect price.

Prices that are reduced for sales and promotions are only valid for the specified period.

Low Price Promise

Our Low Price Promise applies to products that are in brand new condition and in stock with other retailers, this does not include Amazon and Ebay. If you see one of our products at a lower price elsewhere, please contact us to see if we can match it.

Gift Cards

Gift cards can be redeemed at thesewingstudio.co.uk or at our shop located at 10 Chapel Street, Redruth, Cornwall, TR15 2DB. They may be used to purchase goods of the same value or a higher value than the amount on the card, on payment of the difference. If you do not spend the entire balance of the gift card, the remaining balance will stay on the gift card for future purchases. If any item purchased with a gift card is subsequently returned for a refund, any money owing will be added to the original gift card number.

Gift cards should be treated as cash; they are not cheque guarantee, credit or charge cards, however cannot be exchanged for cash, or returned or refunded. The Sewing Studio Ltd will not accept liability for lost, stolen or damaged cards. Gift cards purchased from 27th February 2023 are valid for 24 months from the date of purchase. Gift cards purchased before this date are valid for 12 Months. Any remaining balance will be cancelled on expiry of the validity period.

Gift cards purchased outside the UK adhere to the same terms and conditions above, however in addition to this you are able to purchase and redeem gift cards in your local currency. As this will differ from our currency, a conversion takes place when the gift card is redeemed at the checkout. This conversion uses the exchange rate at the time that the gift card is redeemed and not the exchange rate that was in place when the gift card was purchased.

If you purchase a gift card online or by phone, you have the right to cancel all or part of your order for a gift card at any time up to 14 calendar days after the day on which you place your order, provided none of the balance has been spent.

Gift cards can not be used in conjunction with our Novuna Finance payment options at this time.

The Sewing Studio Ltd reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions of gift cards and e-gift cards at any time and to take appropriate action, including the cancellation of the card, if, in its discretion, it deems such action necessary. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Order Processing

Your order is sent directly to our secure system for processing. Once we have received your order and payment, our staff will pick, pack and dispatch the item. We will aim to do this the same day for all orders in to our shop before 12pm Mon-Fri (excl Bank Holidays).

Order tracking

Once your order has been despatched, you will receive your tracking reference by email. You can also track your order by clicking here.

Delivery

We are committed to ensuring your order is despatched on time and sent via the delivery service selected when you placed your order. Once your parcel leaves us, its journey depends on our trusted carriers. While orders are usually delivered as expected, unforeseen delays can occasionally occur.

If your order hasn’t arrived as anticipated, we recommend checking the tracking for any updates. If you need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

All UK Mainland orders over £99 are delivered free of charge. For orders under £99 or outside of the UK, delivery is charged as priced on each order. Once you have placed an order, it will be despatched the same day or the next day, depending on the time or service chosen when the order was placed. If you wish to cancel your order after it has been dispatched, you will be charged for delivery and will need to arrange your own safe return of the goods once a Return Request has been raised by you (see below).

Some parcels are delivered using a secure PIN code for your protection. This additional verification step helps ensure your parcel is safely received by the correct person. A unique PIN will be sent to the email address or mobile number provided with your order, so please make sure these details are entered correctly. Do not share your PIN with anyone, as it is required to complete the delivery. Once the PIN is used and delivery confirmed, your parcel will be considered successfully delivered.

If you do not receive your parcel or the PIN notification, please contact us immediately so we can assist. Your contact information will only be used to send delivery notifications and your secure PIN. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy.

If, for any reason, you refuse delivery of goods or are not available to accept the delivery, you will be required to cover any extra costs incurred.

When using a courier service, certain areas of the UK and surrounding areas may incur additional charges or experience delivery delays longer than advertised. These areas include (but are not limited to): Northern Ireland (BT), Isle of Wight (PO30–PO41), Isle of Man (IM), Scottish Highlands and Orkney Isles (PA20–PA78, ML, EH, KA, G, KY, PH, DD, AB, IV, KW), Outer Hebrides (HS), Shetland Isles (ZE), and the Channel Islands (JE, GY).

Some orders can take longer to prepare or require special care due to size and weight. If we suspect your order may be delayed, we will contact you using the contact details supplied with your order. If the cost of delivery to you is significantly higher than the amount paid due to size and weight restrictions, we reserve the right to contact you to discuss the charges with a view to amending the amount paid for delivery

We are currently sending orders to the UK, Jersey, Guernsey, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. Please be aware that Sewing machines are available in the UK only.

Availability

All information provided on the products on this website is intended as a guide only. Dimensions and weights are only approximate, as are colours. If you are ordering goods that are out of stock we will dispatch them when they are received from our supplier.

On occasion goods are subject to availability and delay in delivery of goods is sometimes outside our control. As such, delivery cannot be guaranteed and any dates we specify for the delivery of the goods are approximate only. We shall not be liable for any losses, costs, damages, charges, or expenses caused by any delay for delivery of the goods.

Colour Reproduction

We have made every effort to reproduce colours on our website as accurately as possible. However, different computers and mobile devices reproduce colours in slightly different ways, so exact colour matches are not yet possible over the internet.

This means that when you order products from our website, colours may differ from what you see on the screen. For this reason we detail the main colour of each fabric and offer a sample service.

Returns

When purchasing online you have 30 days from the day of delivery to return any unopened, new and unused items. This does not include items that are cut to length. Any promotional items or free gifts must also be returned.  

This does not affect your right to cancel, details of which can be found here.

You MUST raise a Return Request through your account to return any items to us. This request must be submitted within 30 days from the date of delivery. You can access a guide on how to raise a return request here.

Once we have approved your request, we will inform you with instructions on how to return the item(s) to us.  

We will NOT accept returns without a Return Request.    

In any event the consumer must send off the goods intended for return no later than 14 days after approval of the Return Request. After the 14 days, your return will be rejected, and goods made available for your collection.   

Any unwanted items must be sent back at the customer's expense, in all original manufacturing packaging and the condition, as new undamaged, unused and in a resalable condition.    

It is important you do not use or interfere with the product if you intend to return the item, if the item is used or interfered with then it is deemed accepted as supplied, items MUST be unused. If we receive items back in used condition a refund will not be issued and the goods will be made available for your collection or, a partial refund will be offered if the value has been affected by using the item or otherwise damaging it, this includes packaging and accessories and any missing items.  

Products that are cut to length for each individual order, cannot be returned. We deem these products to have been made to order, and as such are exempt from distance selling regulations. Please order carefully.    

Due to the nature of digital products, all downloadable items are non-refundable and non-returnable.

Where a product is purchased with software included, if the software has been opened and/or activated by the customer, the product purchased may not be returned.    

If a machine has been purchased through one of our finance options, and you have started your repayments, it is not possible to return your sewing machine.   

For any faulty items, we can offer a repair, replacement or refund within 30 days of receipt, so long as the fault is not due to accidental damage, user error, misuse or general wear and tear and in all intact packaging. All products will be inspected and tested to establish if the fault is due to a manufacturing problem. You MUST raise a Return Request through your account to return any faulty items to us. This request must be submitted within 30 days from the date of delivery. You can access a guide on how to raise a return request here.

Faults with products over 30 days old but under 6 months old will require investigation and inspection to establish if the fault is due to a manufacturing problem, if it is a manufacturing problem then we will either repair or replace.   

After 6 months it will be down to the consumer to prove it is a manufacturing fault, if it can be proved then we reserve the right to further inspect the product to confirm a manufacturing fault, if after confirming it is a manufacturing fault then we will repair or replace the item.    

When returning items, we suggest for your own protection you choose a tracked delivery service that offers the appropriate insurance for the value of goods being returned.    

Whilst it’s important that your return package is secure, please avoid using excessive amounts of tape, and kindly do not write directly on the original box. This helps us keep the packaging in good condition for processing.

Any refunds will be issued within 14 days of us receiving the goods, in their original condition. This refund only includes the total of goods sent, not the delivery charge or or any other fees.    

We will not charge a restocking fee for returned items.    

The consumer must bear the direct cost of returning goods.    

This does not affect your statutory rights.    

For purchases made in our shop, you have 30 days from the date of purchase, to return any new and unused items, along with proof of purchase. This does not include items that are cut to length. Any promotional items or free gifts must also be returned.  

Cancellation

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days from the day after you receive your goods or services.

Returned items must be in their original condition, including all accessories, packaging, and documentation. We may deduct from your refund if the item shows signs of use, damage, or is incomplete. Heavily used or damaged items may not be eligible for a refund.

Items Exempt from Cancellation:

  • Cut-to-length products (e.g. fabric, ribbon, elastic).
  • Sewing machines bought on finance, if repayments have started.
  • Opened or activated software, including design cards and bundled programs.
  • Downloadable products.

How to Cancel:

To cancel, notify us in writing within 14 days of receiving your goods via:

  1. Email using the Contact Form in our Help Centre, or
  2. Letter to our returns address.

Take reasonable care of the goods and do not use them beyond what is necessary to inspect them. Return the items within 14 days of your cancellation request, using the original manufacturer’s packaging where possible.

Return Shipping:

You are responsible for the cost of returning goods. For your protection, we recommend a tracked courier with insurance for the value of the items.

Packaging Guidance:

  • Secure the package, but avoid excessive tape.
  • Do not write on the original box, as this helps us process returns efficiently.

Once we receive and inspect your items, we will update you within 14 days. Refunds cover the cost of the goods only, excluding delivery charges.

Store Credit

Validity: Store credit issued by The Sewing Studio Ltd does not expire and may be redeemed at any time until fully utilised.

Redemption: Store credit can be applied toward purchases both online and in physical stores operated by The Sewing Studio Ltd, either as full or partial payment.

Combination: Store credit may be used in conjunction with other promotions, discounts, or offers, unless otherwise stated.

Restrictions: Store credit cannot be redeemed for cash, used to pay for shipping, handling, or any other fees not directly related to product purchase.

Non-transferable and Non-refundable: Store credit is issued solely to the original recipient and is non-transferable, non-refundable, and cannot be resold or exchanged.

Loss or Theft: The Sewing Studio Ltd is not responsible for lost, stolen, or unauthorized use of store credit.

Business Closure: If The Sewing Studio Ltd ceases trading, all outstanding store credit will become void and will not be redeemable or refundable.

General: Use of store credit constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions. The Sewing Studio Ltd reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.

Law

These Terms and Conditions of Sale shall be governed by the laws of England and you agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. We are required by law to inform you that sales can be conducted in English only.

WEEE Regulations

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) was introduced into UK law in January 2007 by the Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment Regulations 2006.

The WEEE Directive aims to reduce the amount of electrical and electronic equipment being produced and to encourage everyone to reuse, recycle and recover it.

Distributers of new electronic equipment have a part to play in the amount of WEEE going into Landfill sites. The Sewing Studio Ltd are obliged under these regulations to offer our customers free take-back of their WEEE on a like-for-like basis when they buy a new electronic product from us.

For example, if a customer bought a new sewing machine from us we would accept their old sewing machine and prevent it going into a landfill site by disposing of it safely. Customers must return their WEEE item to us within 28 days of purchasing their new item.

Under the WEEE Regulations, all new electrical goods should now be marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Goods are marked with this symbol to show that they were produced after 13th August 2005, and should be disposed of separately from normal household waste so that they can be recycled.
The customer would be liable for transport costs to us.  To arrange a WEEE take back please email contact us or call 01209 216942.

Our price promise on Sewing machines

If a machine you have purchased from us (The Sewing Studio Ltd) is reduced in price or offered with a free item within 14 calendar days of your purchase date, we will refund the difference upon request.

Where a price reduction occurs within the 14 calendar day period, a claim must be submitted via our contact form  within 14 calendar days from and including the day you purchased it (e.g. if purchased on the 1st, the deadline is the 14th)

For machines purchased using finance, any refund due cannot be applied to the finance agreement. In these instances, the difference will be provided as store credit.

This Price Promise excludes opened boxes, customer returns, ex-display and ex-demonstration models.

This Price Promise applies only to price reductions made by The Sewing Studio Ltd and does not apply to competitor pricing.

Sewing Machine Part Exchange

The Sewing Studio part exchange machine offer is valid on in-store purchases only at our Redruth shop in Cornwall, Monday to Friday during opening hours. We are not open on Bank Holidays.

The minimum spend on a new sewing, embroidery, overlocker or coverstitch machine is £350. Your part exchange credit is valid on all full price sewing machines over £350 and can only be used in conjunction with another offer at the discretion of The Sewing Studio.

The Sewing Studio sewing machine engineers will fully inspect, repair and service your sewing machine to sell as a pre-loved machine. Alternatively, they will remove spare working parts and responsibly dispose of machines that have reached the end of their working life.

We will value your machine based on the following criteria; The make & model; Machine condition; Original packaging and condition; Original accessories present and working order. It will be graded as either excellent, good, average or poor and an offer made on the basis of the grading.

You may be asked to leave your machine with us for a valuation. If this happens, we’ll keep your machine safe before returning it to you or progressing with a part exchange transaction.

If you decide to return your new machine for a refund, the terms of our returns policy will apply. We will return your old machine to you provided it’s within 14 calendar days of purchase. Please refer to our Refund Policy for more information on our terms regarding refunds.

Part ex machines will become the property of The Sewing Studio and will be held securely at our premises for a maximum of 14 days. After this time they will be sold as preloved models or responsibly disposed of if they are not in working order.

The offer is non-transferable, and no cash alternative is offered.

Should any dispute occur regarding this service or the terms and conditions, The Sewing Studio will make reasonable endeavours to resolve. However, The Sewing Studio’s decision is final. The Sewing Studio reserves the right to modify, extend, or terminate the offer at any time without prior notice.By purchasing, you are accepting these Terms and Conditions.

Competitions

Win a Fat Quarters Set of Five 

This prize draw is open to entrants aged 18 years or over residing in the UK except employees of The Sewing Studio, their families, agents or any third party directly associated with administration of the competition. Entry is via the pop-up on The Sewing Studio website. Valid email address details have to be provided at sign up to qualify for entry to the draw. Promotions

All promotions are subject to availability and while stocks last. We reserve the right to end a promotion at any time and they can not be backdated.

Spring Sale 60% off fabric 

Spring Fabric Sale Up to 60% off selected cut-to-length and precut fabrics - this offer is available online, in our Redruth shop and over the phone when placing an order. The offer is valid from Monday 30th March - 27th April 2026. It cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or backdated. Minimum quantity of 0.5m for all cut to length fabric. The offer is non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered. Discounted prices will be shown on the product pages and in the checkout. Offer codes used in our SMS marketing

The codes are valid for customers aged 18 years or over residing in the UK except employees of The Sewing Studio, their families, agents or any third party directly associated with administration of the offer. Customers can sign up for SMS marketing via the pop-up on The Sewing Studio website. Both email and SMS details have to be provided at sign up to qualify for any offer shared via SMS marketing. Offers are non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered. By signing up to SMS marketing, you are accepting these Terms and Conditions.

SMS Offer Free Mini Charm 

This offer is valid to customers aged 18 years or over residing in the UK except employees of The Sewing Studio, their families, agents or any third party directly associated with administration of this offer. The offer is a free Mini Charm when you spend over £30 on fabric and share a valid UK mobile phone number with us. A code will be sent via SMS to the mobile phone number provided at the point of sign up. The offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or coupon code and is valid on full price purchases only. The offer is non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered. Coupon code offers are valid to customers aged 18 years or over except employees of The Sewing Studio, their families, agents or any third party directly associated with administration of the offer or competition. The exact offer and end date will be outlined on promotional materials such as a SMS text message, email, leaflet, poster or advertisement. If there is a minimum spend for the promotion to be redeemed, it will be clearly stated on all promotional materials. In the event that it is not detailed, the minimum order value is £30. The offers are valid online, in our Redruth shop and over the phone when placing an order. They cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or coupon code. One use per customer only during the offer period. The offers are valid for customers residing in the United Kingdom only. In some cases, qualifying items may need to be in your basket for the offer to be valid. The offers are non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered. Deal of the Week
Details for each deal of the week can be found on our website and in our Redruth shop. Exclusions may apply. The Sewing Studio Deal Of The Week promotion runs from a Tuesday 00.01 to the following Monday 23.59 unless otherwise stated.  Where free items are offered, these are subject to stock availability and as such may change during the promotion. Free items will be automatically added to the customers cart once terms of the promotion are met. One free item will be included with each qualifying order only. If you later return one or more of the items in your order, you will no longer be entitled to the discount or free item. Offers are available in-store and online. There is a minimum order of half metre purchase per fabric type for cut to length fabrics when included in a Deal of the Week promotion.  If there is a minimum spend for the promotion to be redeemed, it will be clearly stated on all promotional materials. All promotions are subject to availability and while stocks last. We reserve the right to end a promotion at any time and the offer cannot be backdated. Machine Match Service

Eligibility 

The Machine Match Promise applies to customers who have used our Machine Match Service and purchased a machine directly from The Sewing Studio Ltd that was specifically recommended during that service. The Machine Match Promise applies once per machine purchased through the Machine Match Service and cannot be used more than once for the same machine.  The Machine Match Promise does not apply to machines purchased independently of a Machine Match Service recommendation. In these cases, our standard returns terms apply.  To ensure recommendations remain relevant and accurate, the Machine Match Promise is only available where the purchase is made within 3 days of receiving your Machine Match follow-up email.  After this 3 day period, the recommendation is no longer considered active for the purposes of the Machine Match Promise and the order will instead be covered by our standard returns policy. This does not affect your statutory rights. 

What the Promise Covers 

If the machine we recommended cannot perform the tasks and projects documented in your follow-up email, contact us within 14 calendar days from and including the day you received it (e.g. if received on the 1st, the deadline is the 14th). The delivery date is determined by the tracked delivery record associated with your order, which will be used as the basis for determining eligibility under this promise. 

If a valid claim is made within this period, we will: 

  • Arrange collection of the machine at no cost to you  

  • Exchange it for a machine that better suits your needs  

  • Or offer a full refund if no suitable alternative is available  

Where a replacement machine is of higher value than the original purchase, you will be required to pay the difference before despatch. Where it is of lower value, we will refund the difference. The free exchange applies once per Machine Match Service. If a further exchange is required, our standard purchase and returns terms will apply.  Claims made outside the 14 calendar day window will not be accepted under the Machine Match Promise and will fall under our standard returns terms. 

Our Process 

When we receive a claim under the Machine Match Promise, a member of our team will call you to discuss your experience with the machine. This call is to help us understand where our Machine Match Service may not have fully met your needs. This is not a troubleshooting requirement and is not a condition of your right to an exchange or refund. However, we may ask that this call takes place before any exchange or refund is processed.  Where appropriate, we may still offer guidance during this call, but your entitlement under the Machine Match Promise is not dependent on resolving the issue in this way. 

Accuracy of Information 

The Machine Match Promise applies where the projects, fabrics and requirements you described during your Machine Match Service were accurately represented and are consistent with those documented in your follow-up email. Where your actual requirements differ materially from those discussed, we may revert to our standard returns terms. We will always communicate this clearly and work with you to find a fair outcome. 

Budget-Related Recommendations 

If, during your Machine Match Service, you choose to stay within your budget and accept some compromises, we will clearly highlight any requirements that cannot be met due to those budget limitations in our recommendations. If you later decide to return the machine because of one of these identified limitations, the Machine Match Promise will not apply and our standard returns policy will apply instead. 

Condition of Returned Machines 

Machines must be returned in as-new condition, meaning they have not been used beyond reasonable testing, show no signs of damage or wear and are returned with all original accessories, manuals, cables and packaging. All original packaging must be included.  Any promotional items or free gifts must also be returned. If not returned, their value at the time of purchase may be deducted from any refund. Software is non-returnable once opened. If opened, its value will be deducted from any refund. Machines returned incomplete or showing signs of use beyond reasonable testing may be subject to a deduction from the refund value. Any adjustment will be communicated to you in writing before being applied. 

Suitable Alternatives 

Where an exchange is requested, we will identify and offer a suitable alternative machine based on your documented requirements. The determination of suitability rests with The Sewing Studio Ltd and we will act reasonably when making this assessment. 

Where a suitable alternative is available, it will be offered as an exchange under the Machine Match Promise. 


Exchange and Price Adjustments 

Where a machine is exchanged under the Machine Match Promise, the exchange itself is provided at no cost, including collection and redelivery. If the replacement machine is of higher value than the original purchase, the difference must be paid before despatch. If it is of lower value, the difference will be refunded. Where the original purchase was made using a finance agreement, the agreement must be settled or cancelled in line with the finance provider’s process before an exchange can proceed. A new finance agreement will then be required for the replacement machine, subject to approval by the finance provider. 

Declined Alternatives 

Where a suitable alternative is offered but declined and no further suitable alternatives are available, a full refund will be issued. 

Your Statutory Rights 

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other applicable legislation. Our standard returns policy remains in place for all purchases.
