Pfaff Passport 2.0 Sewing Machine Review

Are you in the market for a compact sewing machine that doesn’t leave you wanting anything more?

Then you’re looking for the Pfaff Passport 2.0! It’s smaller than most sewing machines and lightweight, and easy transportable to any destination, hence the name. It also has a pretty sleek design with the front all in black and gold writing on the buttons. It’s the perfect mix of class and utility in a small package that you’ll want to show off at your next retreat or class.

And it certainly is a small package! This machine weighs in at 6.3kg, or 13.9lbs. It’s light weight enough to easily transport between locations. Pack it in the car, on the train, or even take it on a plane! It’s happy to accompany you anywhere you could dream of going to sew.

Passport 2.0

It’s also able to be easily stored in any small space! If you’re living in a small flat and just don’t have the ability to leave your sewing machine out at all times, a small machine like the Passport 2.0 is perfect for your home or dorm room. It can easily be stored in a closet when not in use, or even under the bed- just be sure to cover it with its case to prevent dust build-up! And when you want to use it? It’s footprint doesn’t take up much space so you won’t feel over crowded in your own space if you leave it out between uses.

With any travel machine, you want to make sure it comes with a hard cover like the Passport 2.0 does! A hard cover not only protects from damage while in transit, but it also protects the sewing machine from dust and dirt that could damage the internal working parts of the machine over time. A cover should always be placed over your machine when it’s not in use to prevent dust and dirt damage, whether you’re storing it or leaving it out on your sewing table.

PASSPORT 2.0 STITCHES

Even though this machine is considered a travel machine, it’s not lacking ANYTHING you’d want in a regular sewing machine. You’ll be able to create any project you set your mind to with it! It has 70 stitches programmed in, four of those being 1-step automatic buttonholes. You can easily customize your stitches, too, with the widest stitch being a maximum of 7mm!

Because it’s a Pfaff machine, you’ll be happy to know that it comes with the Original IDT system. This even feed system really keeps your fabric on track and together properly so that you don’t have any lines of stitches off or puckered fabric. There’s no need for a walking foot with a Pfaff with the Original IDT system! The feed grips on the presser foot itself work with the feed dogs to pull the fabric through more evenly than a normal walking foot.

You’ll love the needle threader that’s built onto the Passport 2.0. It’s easy to use and see, so you won’t have to squint your eyes or strain your fingers to thread your needle. You’ll also find a needle up/needle down button on the front of the machine, near the start/stop button so that you don’t need to use the foot control if you don’t want to. There’s also a slider to control the machine’s speed, depending on your comfort level.

The bright light by the needle really sheds light on what you’re working on. Eye strain is a big issue with sewing for long periods of time, and this machine combats against that by helping you to see what’s under the needle with ease.

Because it’s a smaller machine you’d think you’d have a smaller workspace to the right of the needle, correct? Well, you’d be wrong! The Pfaff Passport 2.0 sewing machine has the same amount of throat space that other machines have- a whole 6 inches! That’s enough space to quilt throw sized quilts!
