Janome Sewist 725S Product Review & Demonstration

Mechanical sewing machines are built to last. That's exactly what the Janome Sewist 725S delivers. This model features Janome's signature jam-proof top-loading bobbin. You just drop it in and follow the instructional pictures on the bobbin case door to thread the machine. Not only does a top-loading bobbin mean fewer jams, but you can also see when it's running low. The built-in needle threader is quick to set up, which means you won't strain your eyes threading the needle during longer sewing sessions.

This sewing machine has 25 different stitches, including a 1-step buttonhole. You'll have a good range of utility stitches to work with, plus decorative options for beautiful detailing. All stitches are customisable with a maximum stitch length of 4mm and stitch width of 5mm.

The adjustable presser foot pressure and build quality give the ability to sew through various thicknesses of fabric - it can handle everything from lightweight cotton to denim. The extra-high presser foot lift accommodates thicker fabrics and projects under the presser foot. It's lightweight at 6.7kg and comes with a hard cover, which is great for taking to classes, storing away and protecting against dust.

Yes. The automatic needle threader, jam-proof bobbin system and clear instruction manual make it easy to learn. Mechanical controls are straightforward and 25 stitches provide room to grow without overwhelming complexity.

Can the 725S handle heavy fabrics like denim?

Yes. Adjustable presser foot pressure and the extra-high foot lift accommodate multiple layers of denim. The robust motor and mechanical build provide the power needed while maintaining stitch consistency.

What makes this machine better than computerised models?

Mechanical machines like the 725S offer longevity and lower maintenance. There are no circuit boards to fail and the physical controls make repairs simpler. Many sewers prefer the tactile feedback and reliability of mechanical operation.

Can I use this machine for free motion quilting?

Yes. The 725S features drop feed capability for free motion work. With the appropriate foot (available separately), you can create free-motion quilting designs with practice.

What warranty comes with this machine?

The Janome Sewist 725S includes a 2-year Janome warranty. Authorised retailer support and in-house servicing are also available.
