Our standard width fabric can be cut as a Fat Quarter, measuring 50cm x 1/2 the width of the bolt. Above is an example of how your fabric will be received, depending on the quantity ordered.
We also offer a sample service, where you can order 1 single fat quarter of any standard width fabric, to have at home and compare colours. When you are finished, you can send them back to us for a refund (feel free to contact us for more information on this service).
Our fabric can be cut as a Long Quarter, measuring a minimum of 25cm x width of bolt. We will supply the fabric as a continuous length (eg; if you bought 1.25m it will be sent as one piece of fabric).
Janome Atelier 9 Product Review & Demonstration
The Janome Atelier 9 is the flagship model in the Atelier range, a fully computerised sewing and embroidery machine built for quilters, dressmakers and makers who want precision across both disciplines. The AcuFeed Flex system feeds fabric simultaneously from top and bottom, which means consistent results on thick quilts, canvas, denim and other challenging materials that cause a standard presser foot to shift or drag. The 7-piece Superior Feed System works alongside AcuFeed Flex to keep fabric moving evenly throughout a seam.
The embroidery unit mounts to the back of the machine rather than extending to the left of the needle. This keeps the machine's footprint compact and, crucially, means the free arm remains accessible even when embroidery is in progress. The 170 x 200mm embroidery area is large enough for jacket backs, cushion fronts and substantial monogram work. With 250 stunning built-in designs, 10 monogramming fonts and a colour touchscreen for editing and positioning, the Atelier 9 covers the full range of embroidery work from personalised labels through to large decorative panels. Ambitious sewers will appreciate the advanced features such as Embroidery Couching, Variable Zig Zag, Jump Thread Trimming and more.
Wi-Fi connectivity allows you to send designs wirelessly from a tablet or computer directly to the machine, removing the need to transfer files via USB each time. At 11.9kg, the body has sufficient mass to minimise movement at speed, and the horizontal rotary hook paired with the 7-piece Superior Feed System is tuned for consistent stitch quality across a broad range of fabric weights.
Six ultra-bright LED lights positioned across three locations illuminate the needle area and embroidery bed, so you can work accurately on detailed stitching without straining to see the needle. The 5-inch colour touchscreen is clearly laid out with icons for stitches, feet and embroidery functions, making the full feature set accessible from early on.
AcuFeed Flex is legendary in the sewing and quilting world for its amazing precision and power - a removable dual feed system that works with the feed dogs below to move fabric from both directions at once. This is particularly effective on thick quilts, canvas and denim where a standard presser foot causes the top layer to lag or distort over a long seam. The system is available in Twin and Single configurations to suit different project requirements.
Switching between needle plates requires no tools: press the lever to release the current plate and snap the new one in place. The straight stitch needle plate includes a built-in sensor that prevents an incorrect stitch from being selected while it is fitted, so there is no risk of a broken needle.
The embroidery unit snaps into the back of the machine rather than extending to the left of the needle, keeping the overall footprint compact and the free arm accessible for tubular work even with the unit attached. Three hoops are included: the RE20a (170 x 200mm), SQ14a (140 x 140mm) and FA10a (100 x 40mm), covering full panel embroidery down to narrow border and label work.
The 4MB built-in memory holds imported designs alongside the 250 built-in designs and any saved stitch combinations. Designs can be transferred to the machine via USB or directly over Wi-Fi, so your design library is always within reach.

What is the difference between the Atelier 9 and a standalone embroidery machine?
The Atelier 9 combines full sewing and embroidery capability in one machine, which means you can piece a quilt, sew garments and embroider designs without switching between separate machines. The compact embroidery unit mounts to the back rather than extending to the left of the needle, so the machine's sewing footprint stays the same whether the embroidery unit is attached or not.
Can the Atelier 9 handle thick fabrics like denim and canvas?

Do I need to stop mid-design to trim jump threads?
No. Automatic jump thread trimming cuts jump threads as the machine embroiders, so the design runs continuously without you needing to pause, trim and restart. This is particularly useful on designs with multiple colour changes or dense fill areas that produce a high volume of jump threads.
Can I create my own embroidery and stitch designs on the machine?
The Stitch Composer lets you build and save custom stitch combinations directly on the touchscreen. For embroidery, the AcuEdit app allows you to create and edit designs on a connected device before sending them to the machine over Wi-Fi. Finished designs are stored in the machine's 4MB built-in memory and available to use again on future projects.
