Janome 2200XT Product Review and Demonstration
The Janome 2200XT is a mechanical machine built for people starting their sewing journey. Two dials run the machine, one for stitch selection and one for stitch length, so you can start sewing without working through menus. It runs quietly and delivers neat, reliable stitches on medium to lightweight fabrics.
The 22 stitches cover straight, zigzag, blind hem and stretch stitches, alongside a 4-step buttonhole for fastenings in a range of sizes. Six snap-on presser feet come included, which means you can move between hemming, overcasting, zips and satin stitch as your projects change. The extra-high presser foot lift gives clearance for bulkier work like curtains and soft furnishings.
The feed dogs drop for free motion quilting and embroidery when paired with an optional darning foot, and twin retractable spool pins ready the machine for twin needle work. An accessory tray on the front stores your feet and tools, then lifts away to reveal the free arm for sewing sleeves, trouser legs and cuffs.
At around 6kg with a carry handle and soft cover, the 2200XT is easy to lift, transport and store. That portability makes it a sensible pick for sewing classes, smaller spaces, or as a dependable second machine to sit alongside your main one.
This is a straightforward mechanical model that lets new sewers build confidence quickly. Reviews of the Janome 2200XT consistently highlight how simple it is to set up and use from the very first project.

How many stitches does the Janome 2200XT have?
The 2200XT has 22 built-in stitches plus a 4-step buttonhole. That range suits seams, hems, stretch fabrics and buttonholes, without menus to work through.
What feet are included with the Janome 2200XT?
Six snap-on feet come in the box: a standard foot, zipper foot, hemmer foot, overcasting foot, satin stitch foot and sliding buttonhole foot. Each one snaps on and off without tools, ready for hems, zips, overcasting and buttonholes.
Can the Janome 2200XT handle heavy fabrics?
The 2200XT is designed for medium to lightweight fabrics. The extra-high presser foot lift gives added clearance for bulkier layers like curtains or soft furnishings. For frequent heavy denim, canvas or leather, we would suggest a heavier-duty model.
Does the Janome 2200XT have a free arm?
Yes. The 2200XT has a free arm for sewing tubular pieces. It sits under the removable accessory tray, which doubles as storage for your feet and tools.
What warranty comes with the Janome 2200XT?
The Janome 2200XT includes a 2-year parts and labour warranty. You can extend this to a maximum of 5 years within 30 days of purchase, with authorised Janome service support available nationwide.
Can the feed dogs be lowered for free motion work?
Yes. The feed dogs drop so you can guide the fabric yourself, which is useful for free motion quilting and embroidery. Pair the machine with an optional darning or free motion foot for the best results.

We also offer a sample service, where you can order 1 single fat quarter of any standard width fabric, to have at home and compare colours. When you are finished, you can send them back to us for a refund (feel free to contact us for more information on this service).
Our fabric can be cut as a Long Quarter, measuring a minimum of 25cm x width of bolt. We will supply the fabric as a continuous length (eg; if you bought 1.25m it will be sent as one piece of fabric).
