Brother Celeste CX1e Product Review & Demonstration
The Celeste CX1e is built for sustained and stunning embroidery work delivering nothing short of absolute precision. The 360 x 240mm (14 x 9.5") embroidery area is large enough for jacket backs, quilt blocks and substantial home furnishing pieces to stitch as a single unit without repositioning the fabric. Two frames are included - the full 360 x 240mm hoop and a 180 x 130mm (7 x 5") frame for smaller and more intricate work.
At up to 1,050 stitches per minute, large and detailed designs can be completed at speed without sacrificing accuracy. The 10.1" HD touchscreen gives you a clear, detailed preview of every design before stitching begins, with on-screen editing tools to flip, rotate, resize, curve text and adjust spacing directly on screen. The Stitch to Block function lets you resize a design while the machine automatically recalculates stitch density to match so scaled designs maintain their quality without manual reworking.
Placement is handled by the two-point LED positioning function which uses the needle drop LED pointer to mark two reference points on the fabric - motifs land accurately along seams, above pockets and on plackets every time. For crafters who work on batches, Matrix Copy automatically arranges multiple copies of the same design within the hoop in a single hooping, which means patches and repeated motifs are produced efficiently without re-hooping between each one.
The design library covers 523 embroidery designs, 26 fonts, 22 craft patterns, 140 decorative frames, Easy Echo and Deco Fill for decorative texture effects, and over 27 decorative buttonhole styles. Colour sorting, advanced colour shuffling and multi-brand thread palettes let you adjust and preview colour combinations before committing.
Wireless connectivity via WLAN and two USB ports give you multiple routes to import designs. The Artspira app lets you sketch designs on your phone and send them wirelessly to the machine, converting drawings directly into embroidery patterns. My Stitch Monitor app sends thread change and project completion alerts to your phone so you are not tied to the machine during a long stitch-out. PE-Design 11 compatibility gives you a full digitising route for professional-grade design creation.

Materials and Build Quality
At 15.3kg, the Celeste CX1e sits firmly on a work surface throughout sustained embroidery sessions. The 10.1" HD IPS LCD touchscreen is sharp and responsive, with a realistic design preview mode that shows exactly how a finished piece will look before stitching begins. The full-spectrum LED lighting covers the entire workspace at five adjustable brightness levels, so the needle zone stays well lit regardless of fabric colour or working conditions.
Automatic Thread Tension adjusts for each stitch type throughout the stitch-out, giving consistent results on both sides of the fabric without manual input. The independent bobbin winder operates separately from the main motor, so you can wind a new bobbin without stopping the machine. Upper and lower thread sensors monitor supply and alert you before either runs out.
WLAN wireless connectivity and two USB ports give you a choice of routes to get designs onto the machine. The Artspira app connects wirelessly, extending the design library and supporting image-to-embroidery conversion. My Stitch Monitor sends completion and thread change alerts to your phone. PE-Design 11 compatibility is also supported for professional-level design creation. Wireless firmware updates ensure the machine's software develops over time.
The Difference is in the Details
At 1,050 stitches per minute, the Celeste CX1e works through large and detailed designs at pace. The auto jump stitch trimmer cuts threads between colour changes automatically, the independent bobbin winder keeps the machine running without a full stop, and upper and lower thread sensors alert you before thread runs out mid stitch-out.
The 15.3kg construction and wireless firmware update capability mean the Celeste CX1e is built to handle intensive use and stay current over time. Brother backs the machine with a 5-year domestic warranty.
Through the Artspira app, you can convert sketches and photographs into embroidery patterns, extending your creative range as your skills develop. On-screen video tutorials cover the full feature set at your own pace. On-screen tutorials guide you through features so you can learn at your own pace.

Ratings & Reviews
Frequently Asked Questions
Let us help with the answers.
What is the difference between the Brother Celeste CX1e and a combined sewing and embroidery machine?
The CX1e is embroidery-only, which means the entire mechanical system is dedicated to embroidery performance. A combined machine splits its design between sewing and embroidery functions. For crafters whose primary work is embroidery, a dedicated machine at this level gives you a larger working area, more targeted automation and a feature set built entirely around embroidery accuracy.
How does the two-point LED positioning work?
You use the needle drop LED pointer to mark two points on the fabric, typically along a seam or at the edges of the intended design area. The machine uses those two points to calculate the correct placement and rotation of the design automatically. This removes the guesswork from aligning embroidery on pockets, cuffs, plackets and other areas where placement errors are clearly visible.
Can I send my own designs to the Celeste CX1e?
Yes. Designs transfer via USB stick or wirelessly from a computer or mobile device. The Artspira app lets you convert sketches and photographs into embroidery patterns and send them directly to the machine. PE-Design 11 compatibility supports full digitising for crafters who create or edit designs at a professional level.
What does the Stitch to Block function do?
Stitch to Block lets you change the size of an embroidery design while the machine automatically adjusts the stitch density to match. This means a design scaled up or down retains its coverage and definition without you needing to rework it manually or use external software.
What does Matrix Copy co and who is it for?
Matrix Copy automatically arranges multiple copies of a design within the hoop in a single hooping, calculating the spacing and layout for you. It is particularly useful for anyone producing batches of the same motif, whether that is patches, monogrammed items or repeated decorative elements on a single project.
Is the Celeste CX1e suitable for small business use?
Brother classifies the CX1e for expert and small business use, with a 1-year commercial warranty applying in that context. The 1,050spm speed, large embroidery area, Matrix Copy function and full app connectivity make it well suited to production embroidery at low to moderate volumes. For higher-volume commercial output, a multi-needle machine would typically be the more appropriate choice.
Our standard width fabric can be cut as a Fat Quarter, measuring 50cm x 1/2 the width of the bolt. Above is an example of how your fabric will be received, depending on the quantity ordered.
We also offer a sample service, where you can order 1 single fat quarter of any standard width fabric, to have at home and compare colours. When you are finished, you can send them back to us for a refund (feel free to contact us for more information on this service).
Our fabric can be cut as a Long Quarter, measuring a minimum of 25cm x width of bolt. We will supply the fabric as a continuous length (eg; if you bought 1.25m it will be sent as one piece of fabric).
