BERNINA 735 Pro Product Review & Demonstration
The BERNINA 735 Pro is a large sewing machine that brings the latest Swiss construction and professional-level stitch control to dressmakers, quilters and professional sewers. The latest BERNINA stitchprecision2 technology makes your sewing, quilting and embroidery experience quieter, more precise and smoother to sew. The 735 Pro also has new pinpoint laser technology for precision accuracy, a new automatic needle threader and WiFi connectivity.
For garment makers, this is an accomplished machine engineered to deliver the finest stitch quality and exceptional control on even the most demanding fabrics. The 5.5mm maximum stitch width and free arm make fine fabrics and intricate pieces easier to handle for a refined finish. Adaptive Thread Tension reads the stitch and fabric type and adjusts thread tension continuously, so results on both sides of the fabric stay consistently beautiful. The machine has 1,753 built-in stitches including 32 utility stitches, 400 beautiful decorative stitches, 37 quilting stitches and 6 alphabets to bring to life your creative goals.
The jumbo bobbin and high-speed hook system support sewing at up to 1,000 stitches per minute with bobbin winding available while sewing to keep interruptions to a minimum. The 735 Pro includes Walking Foot #50 as standard, which provides even fabric feeding from above when working through multiple layers or challenging materials.
The 735 Pro is also BSR-compatible - the BERNINA Stitch Regulator is available as an optional accessory and can be added when you are ready to work with free-motion quilting. An optional embroidery module is also available, which extends the machine's capabilities to include a maximum embroidery area of 15.7" x 8.3" (400 x 210mm), 100's of built in designs, 10 embroidery alphabets and WiFi connectivity for design transfer.

Materials and Build Quality
Stitchprecision2 technology is built into the 735 Pro's mechanical architecture, reducing vibration during operation so stitch placement stays consistent at every speed. The machine's 30 LED sewing lights provide shadow-free illumination across the full sewing area, so you can work accurately without straining to see the needle. Two spool holders and a full set of multi-function knobs are included for practical control during everyday use.
The BERNINA hook system pairs with a jumbo bobbin to hold more thread than a standard bobbin, reducing how often you need to stop and reload during longer projects. Adaptive Thread Tension monitors stitch type and fabric and adjusts continuously, so thread tension stays balanced on both sides of the work without manual correction. Upper and lower thread indicators give advance notice before either supply runs out.
Walking Foot #50 is included with the 735 Pro and provides additional feed from above when working with layered or difficult materials, which means fabric moves through more evenly than with a standard presser foot alone. Adjustable presser foot pressure lets you fine-tune the foot's hold on the fabric to suit different weights and types. The Free Hand System (knee lift) is included for hands-free presser foot operation, so your hands stay on the work.
The Difference is in the Details
At 1,000 stitches per minute with bobbin winding available during sewing, the 735 Pro keeps long sessions moving efficiently. The automatic thread cutter, start/stop button and slide speed control keep key functions within reach and the upper and lower thread indicators mean you know when thread is running low before a seam is interrupted.
The full-metal construction and precision engineering carry forward the build standards BERNINA applies across its professional range. BERNINA backs the machine with a 7-year warranty which reflects confidence in how the machine is built.
The Creative Consultant guides you through stitch selection and settings for specific tasks and the History function recalls recently used stitch patterns so you can return to them quickly. The Personal Program stores your preferred configurations so the machine is set up your way from the moment you sit down.
The built-in sewing tutorial and on-screen help cover the 735 Pro's full feature set, so you can work through functions at your own pace. The Stitch Designer lets you create and save your own stitch combinations directly on the touchscreen, which means your stitch library grows as your skills do. As an authorised BERNINA retailer and certified service centre, our team at The Sewing Studio is here for honest, knowledgeable advice before and after purchase.
The 7-inch colour touchscreen offers clear, intuitive navigation, and the multi-function knobs give quick access to stitch width, length and other adjustments without going into menus. The included knee lift allows hands-free presser foot operation, and Eco mode reduces power consumption when the machine is not in active use. The setup program walks you through machine configuration, so getting started is straightforward.

Inside the BERNINA 735 Pro
Stitchprecision Technology
Built into the 735 Pro's mechanical architecture, stitchprecision2 reduces vibration and noise during operation, so stitch placement stays consistent and controlled at every speed.
Adaptive Thread Tension and BERNINA Hook System
Adaptive Thread Tension adjusts continuously while you sew, so both sides of the fabric come out cleanly without manual input. The jumbo bobbin and thread indicators reduce interruptions during longer projects.
Pinpoint Laser and Automatic Needle Threader
The Pinpoint Laser shows exactly where the needle will enter the fabric across all 11 needle positions, which is most useful on topstitching, patchwork and detailed decorative work.
Walking Foot #50 and BSR Compatibility
Walking Foot #50 feeds fabric from above and below simultaneously, so multiple layers move through at the same rate. The machine is also compatible with the BERNINA Stitch Regulator, sold separately.

Frequently Asked Questions
Let us help with the answers.
What is the difference between the BERNINA 735 Pro and a standard computerised machine?
The 735 Pro builds on a standard computerised machine in several key areas. Stitchprecision technology reduces vibration during operation for more consistent stitch placement, Adaptive Thread Tension adjusts automatically rather than requiring manual setting, and the Pinpoint Laser shows exactly where the needle will enter before you sew. The machine also includes Walking Foot #50 as standard, which most machines at this level require you to purchase separately.
Is the BERNINA Stitch Regulator included?
The BSR is not included but is available as an optional accessory. It is compatible with the 735 Pro and measures your hand movement speed during free-motion quilting, adjusting stitch length in real time so stitches stay even whether you move slowly on tight curves or quickly across open areas. It can be added at the time of purchase or later.
Can the 735 Pro handle garment sewing as well as quilting?
Yes. The 5.5mm stitch width and free arm make the 735 Pro well suited to garment construction, particularly on fine fabrics and shaped pieces such as sleeves and cuffs. The Pinpoint Laser supports accurate placement on detailed work, and the range of included feet covers the key tasks involved in garment sewing, including buttonholes, zip insertion and blind hemming.
What does Adaptive Thread Tension do and do I need to adjust it manually?
Adaptive Thread Tension reads the stitch type and fabric being used and sets thread tension automatically while you sew. In most cases you will not need to adjust it manually, which means fewer tension-related issues when switching between fabric weights or stitch types mid-project. Manual override is still available if you prefer to set tension yourself.
Can I add the embroidery module later, or does it need to be purchased upfront?
The embroidery module is an optional accessory that can be added at any point after purchase. It extends the 735 Pro to include embroidery capability with a maximum area of 15.7" x 8.3", 400 built-in designs, 10 alphabets, WiFi design transfer and a range of design editing tools. Buying the 735 Pro now and adding the module later is a practical option if embroidery is not an immediate priority.
Our standard width fabric can be cut as a Fat Quarter, measuring 50cm x 1/2 the width of the bolt. Above is an example of how your fabric will be received, depending on the quantity ordered.
We also offer a sample service, where you can order 1 single fat quarter of any standard width fabric, to have at home and compare colours. When you are finished, you can send them back to us for a refund (feel free to contact us for more information on this service).
Our fabric can be cut as a Long Quarter, measuring a minimum of 25cm x width of bolt. We will supply the fabric as a continuous length (eg; if you bought 1.25m it will be sent as one piece of fabric).
