All Round
Bernina 475QE
This machine confidently handles all types of projects, due to the superb build quality that we have come to expect from Bernina along with nifty features and ease of use. It has 7 inches of workspace to the right of the needle, which is larger than standard, but not too much to hinder portability. Within the LCD touch screen, you will find 840 stitch options, including Utility, decorative, alphabets, and 10 1-step buttonhole options, along with tutorials and the sewing consultant which is always on hand to help you get perfect results every time. A built-in needle threader and auto thread cutter make for quick operation and the jumbo bobbin means you’ll run out of thread less often. A neat 5.5mm stitch width, extension table, knee lift, and Bernina Stitch regulator capabilities, make this a truly versatile machine.
Beginners
Bernina 335
This is a computerised machine that is easy to use with some great features including a 1-step buttonhole, built-in needle threader, needle up/down, and start/stop button with speed control. It has 221 stitch options including lettering, making it perfect for lots of different projects. It’s able to cope with various types of fabric from thin to thick such as denim and leather. This machine is neat and compact, making it a great travel companion.
Quilting
Bernina 570 QE
This machine has everything and more that you’d expect with a sewing machine yet has features and accessories to make quilting a joy. It can handle larger quilts with 8 inches to the right of the needle and the included extension table. The presser foot hover, and pivot function along with an ¼ inch foot and knee lift make for quick accurate piecing. The multiple quilting stitches, built-in dual feed, and the Bernina stitch regulator ensure outstanding results, for whichever style of quilting you desire. If all that wasn’t enough the bobbin is 70% larger than standard ones, meaning you can sew for longer without interruption and the machine will tell you when the bobbin is running low.
Dressmaking
Bernina 435
5.5mm stitch width, free arm, 1-step buttonhole, and adjustable presser foot pressure make this machine a dressmaker's companion. It has 7 inches of space to the right of the needle, meaning more room for larger projects, and has the strength and power to cope with various types of fabric from sheer ones to denim and faux leather. A slim free arm and the best stitch quality on the market means your garments will be catwalk-ready every time.
Heavy Duty

Bernina machines are manufactured to the highest quality, therefore the qualities we look for in a heavy-duty machine are present across the Bernina range. They all have a metal chassis and powerful motors and feature Bernina’s hammer mode feature that gives extra power when needed to sew through thick fabrics and multiple layers. Bernina’s range of machines features series 3, 4, 5 & 7. With the 3 being the start of the range as you move to 4 series machines, the size is increased, and touchscreen functionality. The 5 series gives you more space again, plus the introduction of more automated features, don’t worry though, all Bernina machines have a built-in Needle threader. The 7 series gives you even more space and optimum automatic features and functions, to make creating a joy.
Overlocker
Bernina L860
It is not possible to go wrong with this overlocker. It has built-in tutorials and a sewing consultant to help you set up the machine correctly. It's super easy to thread with one-touch air thread technology for the loopers and a built-in needle threader for the needles. A free arm, extension table, and knee lift enable easy, comfortable overlocking on a multitude of fabrics. Sew with 2, 3 & 4 threads and use the micro thread technology to fine-tune stitches to achieve perfect results on a variety of projects.
Embroidery
Bernina 700e
Bernina embroidery machines are unique in that all of their 5 & 7 series sewing machines have embroidery capabilities, just add on the optional embroidery unit, and your embroidery journey can begin. But if we are talking about embroidery only, then it has to be the Bernina 700e. It has a generous embroidery space of 15 x 8 inches, with 3 hoops included. 320 designs are selected and edited through the colour touchscreen with the option to add more designs via the USB port. The stitch quality on this machine is second to none, enhancing your projects to the next level.

What is the entry level bernina sewing machine?
Currently the enty level machine are with the 325 or 335 models. The 335 has more sitich options than the 325 plus, 1-step buttonhole function and knee lift technology.
Is Bernina good for beginners?
Due to the build quality and precision of Bernina machines, a lot of sewing frustrations seen on other machines are removed making them ideal for beginners. That said, the 3 and 4 series would be ideal, once you get onto the 5 and 7 series, more experience would be an advantage.
Do Bernina Machines come with a warranty?
yes, sewing and embroidery machines come with a 7 Year warranty and overlockers a 2 year warranty.

Are bernina machines still made in Switzerland?
Bernina produce their machines in two factories, one in Stekborn, Switzerland, where they produce their long arm quilting and top of the range sewing machines. Then Bernina Thailand in Lamphun, is where Bernina machines up to the 7 series are manufactured.
Are bernina overlockers easy to thread?
The short answer is yes! they all have colour coded thread paths. When it comes to threading the trickiest part, the lower looper, Bernina overlockers either have an easy lower looper threader or air thread technology meaning you can thread the loopers with just a puff of air!
