Brother 3034DWT Product Review and Demonstration
Designed for finishing the edges and hems of a wide range of fabrics and creating decorative edges, the 3034DWT features a colour coded lay-in threading guide and lower looping threading system. Simply remove the flat bed to access the free arm, making it easy to sew difficult to reach pieces, such as sleeves, cuffs and children's clothing.
Setup is straightforward. Colour-coded thread paths guide each of the 3 or 4 threads through the machine and the F.A.S.T. lower looper threading system removes the fiddliest part of the job, so you can get sewing sooner.
Once threaded, the 3034DWT handles cutting, seaming and edge finishing together at up to 1,300 stitches per minute, which means long seams on garments come together quickly. The differential feed prevents stretched seams on knits and puckering on fine wovens, so jersey t-shirts and silk edges finish flat and even. Switch to the built-in rolled hem for scarves, table linens and evening wear and use the free arm to flatbed conversion for cuffs, sleeves and trouser hems.
Gathering, piping and blind stitch feet come in the box alongside the wide table, which adds support around the needle area, while the trim trap catches offcuts as you work.
For sewers wanting a reliable first overlocker with plenty of accessories, the 3034DWT covers the fundamentals and more. This model uses standard sewing machine needles for added convenience.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Brother 3034DWT
Let us help with the answers.
Is the Brother 3034DWT suitable for beginners?
Yes. The guided threading route and retractable lower looper remove the most common threading frustrations, and the included instruction DVD walks you through setup. Brother lists it as intermediate, but confident beginners manage well.
What is the difference between the Brother 3034D and the 3034DWT?
The 3034DWT is supplied with a wide table and trim trap in the box, giving you more workspace and a tidier sewing area. The core overlocking features are shared across the Brother 3034 series.
Can the Brother 3034DWT sew knits and stretch fabrics?
Yes. The differential feed adjusts how fabric layers move under the foot, preventing stretched or wavy seams on jersey and other knits, so garments finish flat and even.
How does the rolled hem work?
Remove the stitch finger and the machine sews a narrow rolled hem along the raw edge, which gives a clean, professional edge where a standard hem would be too bulky.
Is a wide table included?
Yes. The wide table comes in the box and fits around the sewing area, adding a flat, stable surface around the needle so bigger pieces of fabric stay level as you sew.
Can it handle heavier fabrics?
The 3034DWT sews stable, medium-weight fabrics such as cotton and denim for garment seams. For frequent heavy canvas or upholstery-weight work, we recommend a heavier-duty overlocker.
What warranty comes with this overlocker?
The Brother 3034DWT includes a 3-year Brother parts and labour warranty. For business use, the warranty period is 1 year. Our team can help with servicing and support throughout.
Our standard width fabric can be cut as a Fat Quarter, measuring 50cm x 1/2 the width of the bolt. Above is an example of how your fabric will be received, depending on the quantity ordered.
We also offer a sample service, where you can order 1 single fat quarter of any standard width fabric, to have at home and compare colours. When you are finished, you can send them back to us for a refund (feel free to contact us for more information on this service).
Our fabric can be cut as a Long Quarter, measuring a minimum of 25cm x width of bolt. We will supply the fabric as a continuous length (eg; if you bought 1.25m it will be sent as one piece of fabric).
