Janome Sewist 740DC Sewing Machine Review
Are you looking for your next sewing machine and know that you want something a little bit more functional than a basic machine?
You should take a closer look at the Janome Sewist 740DC Sewing Machine. Janome sewing machines are some of the best on the market. They’re sturdy with metal interiors, but lightweight due to having a plastic casing.
This Janome machine is computerised. It has more features than a basic mechanical machine, but it’s not overly fancy that beginners will be overwhelmed when they sit down to use it. It’s a great machine for anyone of any sewing skill level.
You’ll have access to 40 sewing stitches which includes 3 different 1-step buttonholes that function differently for different fabrics. Your knit garments will last longer when you use a stretchy buttonhole pattern to begin with. All of the stitches are customisable by either length or both length and width. The maximum possible width is 7mm. You’ll find all of your stitches on the quick reference guide that is both on the front of the machine and as a pull-out menu on the side.
You'll find sewing machines like thi sare easy to thread, too! You’ll have both a built-in needle threader and top loading bobbin, otherwise known as a quick set bobbin, that makes it easy to set up your machine any time you sit down to sew.
And it’s very easy to select your stitches and control the machine. You’ll have easy-to-press buttons right under the LED screen. There are special buttons for the start/stop, automatic needle up/down, and a simple speed slider on the front of the machine.
If you want to take your sewing to a new and creative level, you can easily flip a lever to drop the feed dogs. It’s an easy conversion to free-motion quilting or free embroidery! Dropping the feed dogs allows you to move your fabric freely through the sewing machine, so you can spark your creativity and create beautiful shapes rather than just straight lines of stitching.
The workspace on the Janome Sewist 740DC is not lacking. You’ll have 6 inches of workspace to the right of the needle, which is standard on a moderately sized sewing machine. You’ll be able to sew decently sized quilts and dresses with the amount of workspace this machine has!
