This machine is the first in the J3 series for Janome. Janome sewing machines are well-built, low maintenance, and very reliable! This sewing machine is a great machine for a beginner of any age to learn on as it's easy to use. It’s also a great machine for anyone looking for a small, basic machine that doesn’t come with a lot of flair.

The first thing you should know about this sewing machine is that it is mechanical only. That means that there is absolutely no computerisation. There are no screens, just dials to choose your stitches, a downside to mechanical sewing machines is that there are limited amounts of stitches, depending on the model, but sometimes that’s all you need!

The J3-18 has 19 stitches built in. That includes a 4-step buttonhole to create functional buttonholes in no time. There is a small adjustment of the stitch width of a zigzag up to a 5mm width. This is also controlled by a dial, just like your stitch selection!

Janome’s J3-18’s speed is great for a machine of its size, with a maximum speed of 750 stitches per minute. You can slow down if you need to, just let up a little bit of pressure from the foot control and you can make sure you’re going at a speed you’re comfortable with.

We think you’ll love the built-in needle threader. This sewing machine is a breeze to thread, just like the other domestic Janome sewing machines. This needle threader works like a dream to help you thread the eye of the needle with ease.
