Janome Coverpro 3000 Coverstitch Machine Review
Are you a professional dressmaker?
Are you looking for the best way to finish off all of your garments so that they look professionally made? If you answered yes to either of these questions you need a coverstich machine!
Janome has a line of coverstitch machines that aid you in putting that perfect finishing touch on all of your garments to make them look professionally made! The CoverPro series comes in a few different sizes, but the Janome CoverPro 3000 has everything you could ever want in a coverstitch machine. It’s the top of the line in the CoverPro series. Your garments will be looking even better than ready-to-wear garments you buy in the store!
So, what does a CoverStitch machine do that an overlocker doesn’t? And why do you need one?
Well, a coverstitch machine kind of does what an overlocker does, but doesn’t cut away the raw edged. You can use it to finish off any hems, from pants to sleeves to necklines. It’s meant to help knit fabrics hold their stretch while also making sure the garment is sturdy and lies flat against the body. You don’t have to limit yourself to only knit fabrics, though. The CoverPro 3000 can handle any kind of fabric, firm or stretchy.
If you take a look at the shirt or whatever garment you are currently wearing, you’ll notice the stitching along the bottom hem or sleeve. You’ll see that there are two to three lines of stitching along the bottom, making it lay flat without showing the durable stitching below. That is what a coverstitch machine does!
This coverstitch machine in particular has one feature than the previous models don’t have. It has the capability to sew a top coverstitch! This is something that’s usually seen on active wear, making these garments even sturdier to put up with the extra friction they’ll endure during a typical workout. It’s also a style choice that add just a bit of flare.
It also makes sure to have all of the other stitches and features you’re looking for, like the chain stitch as well as a rolled hem. Chain stitches can easily be taken out for temporary seams, but also can be used as a decorative stitch. Rolled hems are perfect for any light to medium weight fabric for tiny and neat hems. If you’re a sewist that makes evening or special occasion wear or even lingerie, the rolled hem will be your best friend for the delicate fabrics used for these types of garments.
Let’s get to the specifications of the Janome CoverPro 3000. The CoverPro 3000 can handle anywhere from two to five threads at a time, depending on the stitch you’ve selected. With 14 different stitches to choose from, you won’t be wanting for anything. It will have you making garments of all kinds and styles quickly and easily!
You can easily customize any of the stitches. The CoverPro 3000 allows for a maximum width of 3mm to 6mm and a maximum length of 1mm to 4mm. That means you can use this machine on any type of fabric and finish off any type of garment.
This machine features a free arm so that you can fit sleeves and pants under the needle in order to hem them correctly. You won’t have to worry about manipulating and fighting the fabric to be able to get it under the needle.
You’ll appreciate the adjustable presser foot on the Janome CoverPro 3000. You’ll find that you love being able to adjust it depending on your fabric type and how many layers you’re working with. It makes the work go a lot more smoothly!
The CoverPro 3000 is also very easy to thread! You simply follow the color-coded path through the lay-in tension dials, it’s that easy. And you’ll only have one looper to thread, which is also color-coded! This machine also has automatic tension and will set itself up each time you select a stitch. You aren’t tethered to those numbers, though, as you can easily change the tension using the dials, and customise it to whatever project you’re working on.

That is because Janome has utilised ball bearings within the machine to cut back on vibrations. Less vibration means less wear and tear on the machine, your table, and your hands while also making the machine much quieter. It’s something we really appreciate about Janome as a manufacturer; they’re making changes to their designs to create a more comfortable and durable machine to use.
