Janome 8200QCP-SE Sewing Machine Review

The Janome 8200QCP-SE Sewing Machine is a fantastic machine for, providing a large and well-lit workspace, a lot of built-in storage and all the feet you could want for any of your projects, already included in the box! This is the all-rounder of Janome sewing machines, and should not be overlooked.

The 8200QCP-SE Sewing Machine comes programmed with 200 Stitches. 10 of those are buttonholes that are great to use on any kind of fabric for those of you who sew garments. It has all of the utility stitches you’ll ever need, plus a plethora of decorative stitches that will enhance any project you’re working on and give it that extra special touch. You’ll be able to easily customise your stitches, too, by length and width. You can get a maximum width of 9mm and a maximum length of 5mm.

If you’re an experienced sewer, you’ll love how fast the 8200QCP-SE can go. It can get up to 1,000 stitches per minute. However, if you need to slow it down a bit, if you’re working with delicate fabrics and want to make sure you don’t snag the fibres or you need to build up your confidence, you can slow the machine down with the speed slider on the front of the machine.

The LCD Screen on the 8200QCP-SE is crystal clear and easy to read. The buttons associated with it are easy use and select the stitches you need to use and won’t wear down over time. The machine also comes with a stylus to use with these buttons to take the strain off of your fingers. Don’t worry about losing the stylus, though- there’s a place for it in the top of the machine, under the stitch chart and in the same area the bobbin winder, spool holder, and some other storage.

Speaking of storage, we think you’ll love how much storage space this machine has. As we stated, you’ll find your most-used presser foot storage in the top of the machine. The rest of your feet and accessories will be able to be stored in the bottom of the machine in the detachable section that reveals the free arm. Most sewing machines only allow for the front of this to hold sewing machine accessories. But with the Janome 8200QCP-SE, you’ll have the back of it to store things, too! That’s not only double the amount of storage you’re used to on other sewing machines, but even more if you include the specific foot storage in the top, too!

We love a machine that comes with a knee lift. It helps to have the option to go hands free when it comes to lifting the presser foot whenever you need to. It’s a large lever that plugs into the front of the sewing machine and dangles below your table so that you can access it with your leg. It’s still out of the way enough that you won’t accidentally hit it as you work, but it’s available to use when you’re ready to either take your project away from the needle or need to pivot in order to sew in another direction.

This machine has an amazing amount of space for you to work, which is perfect for any quilter! If you want to work on a large quilt, you can be sure that it can certainly fit in the throat space. You’’ find that this Janome machine has a whopping 11inches of workspace to the right of the needle!
