Janome 423S Sewing Machine Review
Sometimes you need a heavy-duty sewing machine, even if you’re on a budget.
And the Janome 423S Sewing Machine is certainly a sturdy machine for a great price. It’s mechanical, meaning there are no screens or other computerised parts, and it’s a great option for sewers of all skill levels. Beginners will find it easy to learn and advanced sewers will love the amount of features it has to offer as a mechanical-only sewing machine.
First, you’re probably wondering what sets sewing machines like this apart from other mechanical Janome sewing machines in the same price range. The Janome 423S sewing machine has a robust metal body. It’s heavy-duty and can handle thicker fabrics compared to other machines of the same price and similar features. A metal body means that it’s more difficult to break and that moving parts aren’t going to be fragile like their plastic counterparts.
This sewing machine also has adjustable presser foot pressure. That means that you can adjust how hard the presser foot grips the fabric. The Janome 423S has a traditional front-loading bobbin. It will be out of your way as you work and is very easy to load. And you can easily drop the feed dogs for free motion quilting and darning!
You’ll find that you have 6 inches of workspace to the right of the needle. That’s enough space to work on any kind of garment as well as small to medium sized quilts- of course, you can piece any size quilt on this machine, it’s the quilting step that can get a little tricky. But, with a bit of practice and skills at rolling fabric, you can quilt any size of project you set your mind to!
This sewing machine also comes with a very sturdy case. It’s made of hard plastic so that it can protect your machine while you travel with it, or when you store it somewhere that isn’t on your sewing table. This case also has an opening for the machine’s handle to fit perfectly through, making it very easy to travel with!
