The Janome 230DC Sewing Machine is a very easy to use computerised sewing machine. Being computerised means that it is programmed with a good number of stitches and allows for easy stitch selection. This sewing machine will make you feel as if you spent much more money on a higher-end machine, even though this model is very budget friendly!
The 230DC is programmed with 30 stitches, 3 of which are buttonholes. These stitches are mostly utility stitches, which will help you to sew beautiful clothes, gorgeous quilts, and home décor or bags to your heart’s delight. It also includes a few decorative stitches to put a personal touch on any project you put to your needle. And you can customise any stitch by width and length, achieving a maximum width of 7mm!
As with many Janome sewing machines, the 230DC features a top loading bobbin. Top loading bobbins are wonderful for two reasons, first, they’re easy to load and thread through the machine. You simply drop the bobbin in and wrap the thread through the clearly marked threading apparatus. Second, top loading bobbins are easier to maintain and clean when needed. It is very easy to open up the area to look for dust and lint, being able to clean that out between projects will extend the life of your sewing machine!
If you’re a free motion enthusiast or want to try your hand at the technique, you’ll appreciate the ability to drop the feed dogs. This feature is also great for free embroidery or thread painting, too!
We love it when sewing machines come with an extension table included! Extension tables are perfect for any kind of sewist. They extend your available workspace so that you can easily work on larger projects such as quilts or garments without fear that the heavy fabric will pull away from the needle as it’s supported by the extension table.
The Janome 230DC comes with a good amount of workspace already built in before the extension table is added. You’ll find that it has 6 inches of workspace to the right of the needle, giving you a good amount of space for small to medium sized projects such as quilts.
It also has the perfect amount of storage space for the accessories that are included with the machine. The storage is located in the flat bed that is removable in order to get to the free arm of this sewing machine.
