Well, just because this sewing machine can transform into an embroidery machine doesn’t mean that it’s going to be short any amazing sewing features. In fact, this machine has some fantastic features that other machines don’t have!
If your main concern is finding the right sewing machine for you, let’s talk about the sewing features of the Brother Innov-is V5LE first.

This machine is stocked with amazing sewing features. You’ll see that it has over 650 stitches to choose from! That includes 14 buttonholes, alphabet stitches, and a buffet of decorative stitches to choose from. You’ll be able to create any kind of sewing project you set your mind to with this sewing machine!

You’ll love the knee lift that comes with this machine, too! A knee lift allows you to keep your hands on your work when you need to reposition your project under the needle and lift the presser foot, or if you need to pivot your work while working on applique or binding a quilt.

This sewing machine has a good amount of working space, too! You’ll find to the right of the needle that you’ll have 7 inches of workspace. That’s a good amount of space to manoeuvre larger quilts under. It might be a little on the tight side, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be quilting Queen sized quilts in no time!

Now that we’ve gone over the sewing features, let’s dig into the embroidery side of the Innov-is V5LE Sewing and Embroidery machine.

You’ll have immediate access to over 220 designs! That’s including 17 different fonts for monogramming or making quilt labels! And you’ll be able to edit all of them directly on the touch screen on the front of the machine. It’s in colour and very easy to use and see no matter what mode you have the machine in.

But you’re not limited to only the designs already programmed into the machine. Using the USB port on the side of the machine, you’ll be able to load other designs that you can purchase online or have created on your computer using a USB stick or a direct computer link.

This machine has a large embroidery area, too! You’ll have a maximum space of 300mm by 200mm. That means you’ll be able to create large, embroidered projects without having to re-hoop your project as you work. And you’ll be able to quilt using the special quilting designs!

If you’re interested in taking up more embroidery, you might want to consider purchasing embroidery software so that you can create your own designs, including digitising your own logos for personal use or digitising your own illustrations or even photographs into embroidery designs. Brother sells two different software options: PE Design 11 and PE Design Plus2. Each software provides different features, so depending on what you want to create will determine which software you purchase.
