We’re not kidding when we say that the Innov-is 15 has easy-to-use controls. You’ll use a jog dial to choose the stitch you want to use. All other controls are clearly marked on the front of the machine from the speed control slider to the reverse button.
Since it’s computerised, you’ll note that it has an LCD screen in the front left corner. It shows you which stitch you’ve selected, what presser foot that came with the machine is best for that particular stitch, and the screen shows you the length and width of the stitch so that you can change them if needed to your specific needs.
The Brother Innov-is 15 features 16 unique stitches. That includes 3 automatic 1-step buttonholes! Automatic buttonholes are very quick and easy to sew. They take a lot of the intimidation of sewing buttonholes out of garment sewing and dressmaking. And you’ll be able to customise the width and length of each stitch, where applicable, so that you can make sure your stitches are perfect for the task at hand. You’ll be able to get a maximum width of 7mm!
Since this sewing machine is computerised, you’ll have access to a few features that you’d never be able to find on a mechanical-only sewing machine. You’ll have an automatic needle up and down button, making it possible for you to position your fabric perfectly, including pivoting while sewing on applique. And it has a start/stop button so that you can sew without a foot control!
If you’re a quilter, you’ll appreciate this machine, too. You’ll be able to drop feed dogs for free motion quilting and free embroidery. It has stitches that work great for applique, too! That means you’ll have plenty of options to sew amazing quilts without having to filter through hundreds of stitches.
Another helpful feature that the Brother Innov-is 15 has is the drop-in/quick set bobbin. This style of bobbin casing helps you avoid thread jams in the bobbin area. It’s easier to access and see into the mechanism to see if there’s any dust or thread remnants that need to be brushed away.
The workspace on the Innov-is 15 is lovely, too. You’ll have 6 inches of workspace to the right of the needle so that you can work on moderately sized projects with ease. It also has a bright work light that helps you to sew without shadows.
