bernette b70 DECO Product Review & Demonstration
Transform your sewing set-up with the bernette b70 DECO - a dedicated embroidery machine that turns everyday makes into something truly personal. Add decorative touches and personalised details on everything from jackets and t-shirts to baby grows, accessories, bedding and quilts.
Choose from 208 pre-installed embroidery designs and 7 embroidery alphabets ready to embroider straight out of the box. The 5-inch colour touchscreen puts your designs front and centre. Drag, drop, resize and position while keeping the creative process visual and fluid rather than lost in menus. When your imagination calls for something one-of-a-kind, simply upload your own bespoke designs via USB and stitch creations that are unmistakably yours.
The 260 x 160mm maximum embroidery area is generous for a machine at this level, with room for jacket backs, larger motifs and bigger projects that smaller hoops cannot accommodate. Three hoops are included in small, medium and large sizes, so you can match the hoop to the design. Automatic hoop detection recognises which hoop is fitted, and a top-loading bobbin, thread sensor and automatic thread cutter keep the workflow moving with fewer manual interruptions.
The automatic needle threader and automatic thread cutter between colour changes reduce the stop-start that embroidery can otherwise involve, and the machine runs at 850 stitches per minute for fast, accurate stitch-outs.
Packed with possibilities and easy to pick up from day one, the b70 DECO is guaranteed to grow with your creativity, one beautiful stitch-out at a time.

Materials and Build Quality
Solid, dependable and engineered specifically for embroidery, not adapted from a sewing machine as an afterthought, it's a dedicated specialist designed to perform stitch after stitch, project after project.
A top-loading bobbin sits under a clear cover, so you can drop the bobbin in and monitor thread supply at a glance. The thread sensor watches both upper and lower thread while you work, alerting you before a break interrupts a design.
The 5-inch colour touchscreen is the control centre for the whole machine, handling design selection, editing and thread tension from one panel. Its size gives you a clear working view of each design as you resize and position it, which matters when accuracy on screen translates directly to accuracy in the hoop. The interface is built to be read and operated at a glance.
The Difference is in the Details
The b70 DECO keeps things moving at 850 stitches per minute for quicker stitch-outs on larger designs. The automatic thread cutter trims between colour changes, and the top-loading bobbin reloads without unthreading. Together, they cut the manual interruptions that stretch a single design across an afternoon.
bernette is part of the BERNINA family reflecting over a century of Swiss precision engineering. They are built to last with meticulous attention to detail. Both brands use high-quality metal components, tight manufacturing tolerances and robust internal mechanisms rather than cheaper alternatives. With readily available parts and strong service support, these machines are designed to deliver reliable performance over years of use.
The b70 has a full 2-year warranty covering both parts and labour, and our team handles servicing and support throughout.
The on-screen Sewing Consultant recommends the right stitch and presser foot for your chosen fabric and project. You'll also find a detailed tutorial on the b70 DECO key features as well as how to get started on our YouTube channel.
The bernette b70 has been designed for an enhanced machine embroidery experience. An intuitive 5-inch colour touchscreen with drag-and-drop editing keeps design work simple. The automatic needle threader makes set-up fast and easy. Automatic hoop detection recognises the hoop size.

And every project
Personalising Clothing and Accessories
The b70 DECO transforms the everyday into the extraordinary. Personalise a denim jacket with bold embroidered patches, add a name to a baby's first keepsake blanket or elevate a plain tote bag into a bespoke accessory that turns heads. The possibilities stretch as far as your imagination - embroidered cuffs, customised caps, heirloom quilts, personalised patches for your little one's school bag.
Larger Projects and Statement Pieces
The 260 x 160mm embroidery area opens up projects that smaller machines cannot handle in one hooping, from jacket backs to larger decorative panels for a quilt or wall hanging. With the large hoop included, you have the working area for statement designs straight away, no upgrade required.
Custom and Bespoke Designs
Got a design idea that's entirely your own? Turning your artwork into a stitch-ready file is easier than you might think. The Bernina software is available to purchase with a 30 day free trial so you can convert your original artwork or illustration into an embroidery file format. Once digitised, save the file to a USB flash drive and the b70 DECO does the rest.
Better still, the machine reads all the most popular embroidery formats including PES, DST, JEF, HUS, VP3 and more so you can download free or paid for designs off the internet.

Frequently Asked Questions
Let us help with the answers.
Is the bernette b70 DECO suitable for a complete beginner?
Yes. As a dedicated embroidery machine with 208 designs built in and a 5-inch touchscreen, it gives beginners a focused way into embroidery without combination-machine complexity. The on-screen editing is visual and direct, and our team can talk you through getting started.
Can I add my own embroidery designs?
You can. The USB port lets you upload and save your own motifs to the machine and the Bernina software is available to purchase with a 30 day free trial so you can convert your original artwork or illustration into an embroidery file format. Once digitised, save the file to a USB flash drive and the b70 DECO does the rest. There are millions of designs available online to download (free and paid for) so there is no need to design your own however the option is there if you want to.
Does it come with hoops, or do I need to buy them separately?
Three hoops are included in the box, in small, medium and large sizes. That covers everything from compact motifs up to the full 260 x 160mm embroidery area, so you have the right hoop for most projects without an extra purchase.
Can the bernette b70 DECO sew as well as embroider?
No. The b70 DECO is a dedicated embroidery-only machine, built to do one job well rather than combining sewing and embroidery. It suits sewers who already have a sewing machine and want to add embroidery, or anyone focused purely on personalisation and decorative work.
Do you offer support after purchase?
Yes. We are an approved bernette seller with an in-house team that services and supports these machines. You can call, chat or email for advice at any point, and our YouTube channel and website carry tutorials to help you get more from the machine.
Our standard width fabric can be cut as a Fat Quarter, measuring 50cm x 1/2 the width of the bolt. Above is an example of how your fabric will be received, depending on the quantity ordered.
We also offer a sample service, where you can order 1 single fat quarter of any standard width fabric, to have at home and compare colours. When you are finished, you can send them back to us for a refund (feel free to contact us for more information on this service).
Our fabric can be cut as a Long Quarter, measuring a minimum of 25cm x width of bolt. We will supply the fabric as a continuous length (eg; if you bought 1.25m it will be sent as one piece of fabric).
