Elna eXcellence 680+ Sewing Machine Review

Elna machines have been around for over 80 years...

... So they’re definitely doing something right to have been around for so long!

These machines are well-built and sew like a dream for a fraction of the price of a luxury brand. They’re proudly made the the “Swiss Design” and are certainly well made! So let’s talk about the Elna eXcellence 680+ Sewing Machine.

Swiss Design Machine

This little lady of a sewing machine has her best red dress on and it ready for a sewing party! It’s sleek, it’s bright and cheery, it’s a beauty of a sewing machine. The red faceplate emphasises the screen and controls on the front. The computerised screen and easy-to-use buttons make it simple to select what stitch you need to use and to customise anything. It’s easy to see and read and clear to understand what you’re selecting and doing with the machine controls.

The Elna eXcellence 680+ is a great, well-rounded machine that everyone will love to sew on. It’s great for advanced sewists to beginners and everyone in between. You’ll find that it has everything you could need plus just a little bit more! You’ll love the features it has and how functional this machine can be for a multitude of projects.

This sewing machine features 170 Stitches, 10 of which are automatic 1-step buttonholes. You have access to all the utility stitches you’ll need as well as a lot of extra stitches, including decorative and applique stitches that will really make your projects something special. And you can customise them in length and width, and you can make the width as wide as 9mm with this machine!

Have you ever used a knee lift? If not, it’s going to change your life. You’ve probably been there, where you need both hands on the fabric, but you need to lift the presser foot in order or pivot your project or completely remove it from your working area? Well, what if we told you that you could lift the presser foot hands-free? That’s exactly what a knee lift does! It plugs into the front of the machine and allows you to lift and lower the presser foot with the bump of your knee against the lever. It’s such a great tool for every sewist!

You’ll also notice that an extension table is included with this machine. We love a good extension table! It increases your working space and helps to keep your fabric level with the machine, so that it doesn’t pull away from the needle in any direction. Once you use an extension table, you won’t want to go back to sewing without an extension table to assist you.

The 8 inches of workspace to the right of the needle really makes this machine an asset to the quilter as well as the dressmaker. You can fit a large quilt through it very easily (especially with that extension table in use)! With more space here, you’ll have more light to be able to see what you’re working on, too.

Your presser foot storage on this machine is a little bit different than other sewing machines. Instead of storing the feet with other accessories in the base of the machine, you’ll find a hidden compartment at eye level. This compartment has a slot for each of the feet that come included with the machine. Each slot is labeled, so everything has it’s own place and home and you can easily grab the foot required for whatever you’re stitching.

We bet you’re wondering what comes in the Elna eXcellence 680+’s box, right? You won’t be disappointed by the sheer amount of accessories that come with this sewing machine. Let’s check it out!
