The Janome Atelier line also known as the Skyline Series in the States, all have a very sleek look. A white plastic exterior with blue accents give it a crisp, clean look and an all-metal interior allows for both a lightweight but powerful sewing machine. The motors of each machine are quiet and run smoothly, making your sewing experience enjoyable- listen to music and audiobooks or have the TV on in the background without having to blast the volume!

Basic Features of this Series

Have you ever used a machine with a drop-in bobbin set up? If you haven’t you’re really missing out. Drop-in bobbins are very easy to set, just as the name suggests. You drop it in to the machine, following the diagram printed on the machine itself, and you’re ready to sew!

We all know that threading a sewing machine needle can be a pain. Janome has made it much easier to thread the Atelier machines by installing a built-in Superior Needle Threader that makes threading your machine a breeze!

Each machine is also computerised, making stitch selection and customisation much easier than if you were to do the same on a purely mechanical machine. No more messing with dials and guessing if you’re at the correct width or have the right amount of tension- the easy-to-read buttons on the machine truly take out the guess work.

Quilting

Quilting and piecing on the Atelier series is smooth and easy! Each machine features all the basic quilting stitches and include a 1/4inch foot for piecing. They also come loaded with applique stitches for those special touches to your quilts. Chain piecing is a breeze with machines like the Atelier 7 and 9 where programs are already installed that measure your stitch count and recreate it with each piece you feed through.

Garment Sewing

Each machine features many different stitches for every kind of fabric. From stitches that work best with stretchy fabrics, like jersey knit for velvet, to stitches meant for more durable and thick fabrics like denim. With the feed dog systems built into each machine in the series, getting through thicker fabrics is not a problem. The Atelier machines also come with feet that are well-suited for garment sewing. The automatic buttonhole foot is a must-have, making sewing buttonholes so easy! The satin stitch foot is also included along with the blind hem foot and so many others that the seamstress needs to complete their wardrobe.

Upholstery

The higher end models allow normally tough-to-sew fabrics to glide right through, making it a breeze to reupholster furniture and draperies. The higher the model number, the more it can handle. The Atelier 7 and 9 machines feature Janome’s patented Acu-Feed technology- basically a built-in walking foot with greater precision than any other walking feet out there. Walking and ultra-glide feet allow anyone to sew through thick fabrics like denim or leather, though they may not come standard with the Atelier Series, they are easily available and affordable.
