No quilt is complete without it's layer of wadding! We stock a large selection of waddings (also know as batting) which should provide just what you need. The decision to use cotton wadding, polyester wadding or a mixed blend really comes down to personal preference.
Some quilters prefer to use cotton because it is a natural product, but it will shrink slightly (which may be a desired effect). It can be ironed though which is a useful attribute! Polyester will not shrink and is well suited to projects that will be washed regularly however it can't be ironed. So unless you want a flattened look to your quilted piece don't iron it! A mixed blend can offer the benefits of both types in a reduced way. We supply a good range of both cotton and polyester waddings in different widths and weights. We also supply Pellon fusible fleece and Pellon insulating fleece. The first type is ideal for making bags, giving support and flexibility while the insulating fleece is good for such items as table mats and oven gloves. And for great hand and machine quilting we sell a mixed wadding which is 50% cotton and 50% bamboo with scrim. This is super soft and 90 inches wide!
