Amy Butler is an internationally recognized designer of fabrics, home decor, handbags, sewing patterns & stationery goods and has authored multiple books including "Found Style" and "In Stitches" (Chronicle Books). She works with her husband and a handful of employees in their Art of the Midwest Studio in the small town of Granville, Ohio.
Her products and licenses are distributed internationally, and she travels extensively to promote and research her latest projects. Her name is her brand, and it has become synonymous with her distinctive vision of design, a tireless pursuit of excitement, approachable ease, quality of goods, and creative fire.

Allow extra yardage for matching or centering a design on your fabric.
1 1/2 yards of 54” wide heavyweight Home Dec fabric or 44” wide quilting weight fabric for the Exterior
2 5/8 yards of 54” wide coordinating heavyweight Home Dec fabric or 44” wide quilting weight fabric for the Lining
2 yards of 22” wide heavyweight sew-in interfacing if using the heavyweight Home Dec fabric for the Exterior (we use Pellon® 50)
OR 1 1/8 yards of 60” wide 10 oz cotton canvas if using quilting weight fabric for the Exterior (The canvas we use is from Thompson Manufacturing. You can substitute with a Natural Duck Cloth made by Schott International, Inc.)
1 3/4 yards of 20” wide Peltex® #70 by Pellon® or a similar extra heavy stabilizer
4 (size 7/16”) extra large Eyelets or Grommets (with tool) from Prim-Dritz™
1 spool of coordinating all-purpose thread (we use Coats Dual Duty XP®)
Finished Dimensions for the Betty shopper: (It’s Big!)
Large Betty Shopper: 15 1/2” wide across the top of the bag and 28” wide across the bottom x 14 1/2” tall x 3 1/2” deep
Small Betty Shopper: 12 1/2” wide across the top of the bag and 25” wide across the bottom x 14 1/2” tall x 3 1/2” deep
TOOLS NEEDED: Scissors, Yardstick, Iron and ironing board, Hammer, Straight pins, Turning tool (such as a closed pair of scissors), Chalk pencil or Fabric marker, Size 100/16 sewing machine needle, Scotch tape™
